Ice-T revealed that his participation in the 27th season of “Law & Order: SVU” was reduced to free up budget for the return of Kelli Giddish, who left the show in 2022 after eleven seasons.

In an interview with TMZ, the actor said it was “basically a business decision.”
“They brought [Kelli Giddish] back, and in the end, they couldn’t keep both of us full-time within the budget. So they said, ‘Ice, this year you’re going to come in and out,’” Ice-T said on Monday (24).
“We have new officers and things like that,” he added, trying to reassure fans. “I’m not leaving the show,” he emphasized.

Ice-T, a renowned rapper and entrepreneur, has played Sergeant Fin Tutuola since the second season of the investigative series, which includes three other shows in the same universe.
His concern is staying on for the 28th season.
“This year they said, ‘Ice, we’re going to use you a little less.’ For me, that was fine; I understood. I asked, ‘Are you getting rid of me?’ And they replied, ‘No way. We can’t imagine Law & Order without you,’” he said.
So far, he has appeared in half of the eight episodes of the current season that have already aired, while Giddish has appeared in six.
